About Us

My photo
We are a Prep Class that is currently learning about 'how things move'. After investigating and researching, we will create a vehicle that rolls down an incline.

Involuntary movements

Today we looked at voluntary and involuntary movements, we 'observed' one another for a short period, then we discussed voluntary and involuntary movements.
Below are some INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENTS that we came up with .... you might be able to help us name some others....

·   wHEN YOU PLAY MUSICAL STATUES AND YOU TRY TO BALANCE, but wobble

·   BLINKING

·   YOUR HEART beating

·   YOUR TUMMY WHEN YOU ARE BREATHING

·   YOUR FACE AND YOUR BODY WHEN YOU HICCUP

·   YOUR NECK AND Throat AND CHEST WHEN YOU COUGH

·   YOUR EYES WHEN YOU SNEEZE

·   SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS WHOLE BODY LISTENING TIME, YOU GET THE WIGGLES

our wordle

After moving and grooving to some indigenous dance music, we brainstormed ways that you can move using 'wordle' - this is what we came up with -

Our Movement Discovery Walk

Just like detectives, we 'hunted' high and low looking for things that moved around our school. Here are some of the things that we photographed, then discussed how they moved .....

Things we have learnt this week ....

This week we have looked at different vehicles that have wheels.
A unicycle and a wheelbarrow only have one wheel.
A bicycle, the HRSS tables, an aeroplane, a scooter, a motorbike and some trolleys have two wheels.
Tricycles and some prams have three wheels.
Lots of things have four wheels.
Some vehicles like trucks, trains, some cars and some buses have more than four wheels.

push and pull

After brainstorming things around our home that we push and pull ....

we sorted and classified things that you can both push and pull .... we used a Venn diagram to organise our thinking ..

Can you think of other things that we push or pull .... or both??

visit from Nucrush

On Wednesday 26th November, Prep children were very lucky to have a visit from Nucrush - they brought a small agitator and a tip truck. We learned about how these vehicles move and examined different parts of them that move. We were lucky to be able to have an up close inspection when we climbed in the cabin, pretended to drive and we beeped the horn.
Here are some photos from the truck visit.
